SPS IPC Drives is the leading international exhibition for electric automation technology. It covers all components, complete systems and integrated automation solutions.
The 2015 trade show was held on November 24-26 in Nürnberg, Germany. This year it reached new heights with 64,386 visitors and 1,666 exhibitors – 532 of which are from outside Germany.
The newly established “Industrie 4.0 Area” (Internet of Things / IoT) as well as the exhibition forums were this years’ highlights and enjoyed special popularity. Many visitors took the opportunity learn more about Industrie 4.0 – the networked and continuous digital production. Representatives from research, product development and applications discussed the current state-of-the-art products as well as their implementation possibilities in practice.
Additional industrial sectors included:
- Control technology
- Electric drive systems and components
- Human-machine-interface devices
- Industrial communication
- Industrial software
- Interface technology
- Mechanical infrastructure
- Sensor technology
Microsemi Corporation (USA) was a first time exhibitor. Jason Chiang, Sr. Marketing Manager, noted that many visitors portrayed a forward-thinking mindset, asking about the systems and process of digital transformation, and want to avoid the lure of vague visions.
Heinz Eisenbeiss, Head of SIMATEC Marketing, Siemens Division Digital Factory declared, “”SPS IPC Drives is an excellent platform for positioning future topics like Industry 4.0 and demonstrating tangible benefits to customers as through case studies. There are plenty of synergies among the disciplines on hand here, particularly with regard to Industry 4.0.”
In addition to the exhibits and conferences, the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (ZVEI) and the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) hosted presentations by leading industry experts on key industry issues.
The next SPS IPC Drives show is scheduled for November 22-24, 2016, also to be held in Nürnberg, Germany.
