ProMat 2017, the international tradeshow for manufacturing, logistics and supply chain professionals, was held at McCormick Place, Chicago, USA from April 3-6. Visitors attended from over 110 countries.
The show featured over 950 exhibitors and more than 100 show floor seminars including session on autonomous vehicles and sustainable facility solutions.
eCommerce solutions were very popular at the show, with aisle after aisle of piece picking systems on display.
A group of supply chain professionals from companies including UPS and REI shared their tips on greener, more efficient supply chains at Monday morning’s keynote.
Also presented were a new breed of intelligent machines that are core to Industry 4.0 and will eliminate waste in supply chains and enable new business models. “Iindustry also needs to think about how smart machines will disrupt jobs,” said Markus Lorenz, partner and managing director at Boston Consulting Group, Tuesday’s keynote presenter.
MHI, the show organizer presented the winners of its Innovation Awards on ProMat’s opening day. After receiving a record 153 submission for this years’ awards, seven judges comprised of professionals from the material handling and supply chain industry completed the initial vetting process.
Four finalists were chosen in three categories: Best New Innovation; Best Innovation of an Existing Product; and Best IT Innovation based on concept, value, and impact.

- Best Innovation of an Existing Product: EuroSort Inc. for Twin Push Tray Sorter
- Best IT Innovation: Ubimax GmbH for Enterprise Wearable Computing Suite
