TE Connectivity announced its SMI Series low pressure sensors designed for use in industrial and medical applications.
These Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) based low pressure sensors deliver gauge and differential pressure sensing as low as 125 Pa (0.5 in H2O), by using piezoresistive technology with signal processing to provide a compensated output.
With the ability to detect even the smallest pressure changes with high levels of accuracy (up to 1% FS total error band), these sensors provide long-term stability.
Flexible output options allow users to choose between a digital or digital and analog output signal according to the application requirements. The option of dual output signal offers redundancy for system safety.
The amplified analog output provides a fast response time. The digital I2C interface with 16-bit resolution resolves signals as small as 0.0038 Pa and limits the need for additional circuitry from the customer, allowing multiple devices to connect to the same BUS.
The sensors are offered in a standard JEDEC SOIC-16 package with vertical or horizontal porting or a unibody molded SOIC-10 with a single vertical port (only available for SM4000/1000).
The small footprint and insensitivity to the mounting orientation allow ease of system integration.
