KraussMaffei’s new injection molding machine was demonstrated in North American at its TechDay event last week. The GX Series of injection molding machines features unique innovations such as gear locking mechanism and the MC6 control system, which provide the framework for increasing production efficiency.
The GX series targets the high growth mid-range 400 to 650 tonne clamp market, and has a dry cycle time of 2.3 seconds with a range of 9 clamp tonnages.
Coupled with a choice of 12 injection units offering a combination of 90 injection configurations utilising either hydraulic or electric screw drives and potential energy savings of up to 50 percent, the GX machines are designed for use in the packaging, consumer goods, auto, medical and materials handling industries.
The new machines cover a clamping force range from 4000 to 6.5 kN (900,000 to 1500 lb) in different sizes and equipment variants. The GearX clamp system locks the machine clamp within the shortest possible time – approximately 0.25s – with the locking element positively engaged in the tie bar notches via a short flux of force inside the unit.
A new 19-inch touch screen control system provides clear and simple operation with a split screen, process designer, automation/robotics interface and eco-function allowing energy optimization settings at the touch of a button.
The MC6 control system with its embedded Windows 7 operating system also features a resistive dual touch function so that a person wearing gloves can operate it. And the control system includes an eco-button that facilitates an energy-optimized configuration of the machine.
